Znojmo is a historical town in the South Moravian region on the left bank of the Thaya River, 55 km southwest of Brno and 75 km northwest of Vienna. The Austrian frontier runs eight kilometers from the city. There live almost 34,000 inhabitants in Znojmo. It is the second largest town in South Moravia and the historic center of southwest Moravia.

The first written references concerning Znojmo date back to the time around 1048.

Znojmo and its surroundings are known as the locality of first-class wineries, definitely worth visiting.
