Břevnov Monastery (in full name the Benedictine Archabbey of St. Adalbert and St. Margaret in Prague-Břevnov) is the oldest Czech male monastery, located in the Prague district Břevnov. It was founded by Prince Boleslav II and Bishop of Prague Adalbert in 993. From the beginning, it has housed the Benedictine monastic community. On the occasion of its 1,000-year-jubilee in 1993, Pope John Paul II promoted Břevnov abbey to archabbey. Since May 3, 1958, the monastery with the Church of St. Margaret and its extensive gardens has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The monastery has the oldest tradition of brewing beer in the Czech Republic. The beers brewed in the monastery are sold under the brand name Břevnov Benedict. Since 2017, beer by this formula and under the supervision of technologists from the monastery brewery was brewed under the brand Gold of Prague also in South Korea
